Who we are

gen‑ai.news is a newsletter covering generative image and video AI, operated by Sean Hawie. If you have any questions about this policy or how we handle your data, use our contact form.

What data we collect

We collect only your email address when you subscribe to the newsletter. We do not ask for your name, and we do not collect any other personal information. We do not use tracking pixels, behavioural analytics, or fingerprinting of any kind.

Why we collect it

Your email address is collected solely for the purpose of sending you the gen‑ai.news newsletter. We will not use it for any other purpose without your explicit consent, and we will never sell it or share it with third parties for marketing.

Legal basis (UK GDPR)

We process your email address on the basis of your consent, given when you submit the subscription form. You may withdraw your consent at any time by unsubscribing (see below).

Who we share data with

To operate the newsletter, we share your email address with the following sub-processors:

  • Resend (email delivery): your email is stored in a Resend audience and used to send newsletter issues. Resend is based in the United States; transfers are covered by Standard Contractual Clauses. Resend Privacy Policy.
  • Supabase (database): your email is stored in a Supabase Postgres database hosted in the EU. Supabase Privacy Policy.

We do not share your data with anyone else.

How long we keep your data

We hold your email address for as long as you remain subscribed. If you unsubscribe, your email will be removed from our mailing list within a reasonable timeframe. You can also request permanent deletion at any time via our contact form.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Request erasure of your data
  • Withdraw consent at any time
  • Lodge a complaint with the ICO

To exercise any of these rights, use our contact form.

Cookies

We set one optional preference cookie when you dismiss the newsletter signup prompt on story pages. It remembers your choice for 21 days so we do not show the prompt again. It stores no personal data and is not used for tracking or analytics. We do not use local storage or any other client-side storage.
